UMass Visit Pics From Bruiser Brown...

Will "Bruiser" Brown sent the following pics taken at a UMass reunion trip in January...

Bruiser: Gelb and Dickie arrived later that afternoon. I think what's funny about the last photo is the look of anticipation on everyone's face...The calm before the storm...

Sean "Flem" Fleming, Rob Slocum, Rick Currier, Dan Bretton & Tim "Timmy" Carney at The Dove's Nest...

Rob "Slokes" Slocum and Sean "Sully" Sullivan
(Sully's probably calling information looking for D.P. Dough.)

A bunch of brothers, both old and new on the back
deck of the house.
Is that Gord "Gordie" Roberts rear left?
Yes, it is!
Niiiice!

Thanks for the pics, Bruise!

New Pic From Bob MacNevin...

Cutter,

Attached is a Family Pic of the MacNevins taken a few years ago…

Me, Tina, Colin and Emma. Colin is now 8 and Emma is 6.

I'm still with Tina after all these years...It's all Godzik's fault - he introduced her to me 21 years ago at a Theta Chi Valentines Day Bash...She hasn't changed much at all!

I'm still trying to find Torrejon. If you're reading this, Marco, send me an email!

Hope all is well…

Bob

Awesome, dude! Thankfully Emma inherited her looks from her mom instead of you! (Don't hit me - Herrera told me to say that.)

THE HELPING HAND!!!

Sometimes life hands you awesome surprises.

As I was going through my email this morning I found one with the subject:

From A Brother in Omaha

Expecting it to be a spam email, I deleted it without opening it.

Anyone from our chapter wouldn't be so formal so I didn't expect it to mean "Fraternity." I expected it to be another of those: "I stand to inherit $10m and will share it with you if you give me your bank account number..."

But then I decided to open the Deleted folder for some reason.

And I'm glad I did.

Seems our blog has found a reader in Omaha. An undergrad from the Delta Zeta Chapter at The University of Nebraska.
Here it is...
_______________________________________________________________________________

Thanks to the power of the internet (and the option Gmail gives you to get anything that has to do with Theta Chi posted on the internet emailed to you) I came across your alumni blog article about Tommy Moore and Rick Currier. I can't do much from here, but I feel compelled to throw some money your way to at least help alleviate some of the strain of trying to rebuild.

While I was pledging here in Omaha, my Big Brother's house was also burned down. The support for him showed by my chapter sealed the deal for me here. Also, my family owns a small business in town, so I can imagine the pain of losing your office like that.

I am still an undergraduate here, so money is kinda tight, but I think that I can spare $50 to help. Any information on how I can help out would be greatly appreciated.

Here's a picture of Dan:

Dan, speaking for all of us who know and love Rick, thanks, man.

The "Helping Hand" apparently means a lot to you, as it does to all of us.

You rock, dude!

(You also have an unbelievable resemblance to one of our brothers: Rich Levansavich!)

Rick Currier Needs Help!

Brothers,

Please see the information below about Rick Currier. He could use a "Helping Hand" during this time of need. Please keep keep him in your thoughts.

The event mentioned below is at the 21 Nickels Grill and Tap -- 21 Nichols Avenue, Watertown.

Rich

Hey guys,

As many of you know at this point, our good friends Tommy Moore & Rick Currier suffered a loss over the holidays. Tommy's house caught on fire and both Tommy & Rick, who was staying there, have lost all their belongings. We have been trying to delicately address this situation because both guys are very proud and do not want what they call a "handout." However, it is very obvious to all of us who know and care about them that they are hurting. Not simply the financial strain, but the duress that losing all one's possessions can cause. These guys are always at the front helping others in their time of need, and now they need us.

This Sunday, January 6th, "Little Christmas," we will try to get Rick & Tommy's friends together to help them get through this trying time. If you would like to make a donation or bring a gift card for the guys, that would be great. Maybe you could just write a quick note to them and let them know how much we all care. Just whatever you do, don't introduce TM to any single mothers (sorry, I could not resist). In all seriousness, we want to do what little we can to help lift their spirits and maybe alleviate some of the short term financial strain that has hit them at the worst possible time of the year.

The festivities get going around 4PM and a full dinner buffet will be served at 5:30, featuring steak, turkey, ribs, chicken and more, all supplied by TA Spatola Meat Brokers, a small business owned by Tommy.

Additionally, both Rick & Tommy run their small businesses from home. Tommy is a meat broker specializing in local restaurants as well as many North End locations, and is currently branching out to home delivery business. Rick has a painting business and also is a certified teacher and provides tutoring services.

If you want to contact them, you can email me, or fax the nickel, 617-393-1902, while they get up and running again.

Hope you can stop down this Sunday and a very happy new year to you all.

BROTHER EMAILS?

Welcome to the

THETA CHI - THETA CHAPTER - ALUMNI BLOG

Glad to have you!

We're trying to find email addresses for guys across the board.

Rich Partridge did a bang up job for years keeping addresses but it's been a while since those of us in the 80's/90's were there.

His list is getting old.

He reports that a lot of email addresses get kicked back as being undeliverable.

So if you're here, take a quick minute to hit us with your email address. If you're still in touch with guys from the house, hit us with their emails too.

Putting out feelers for guys I got Marcus Torrejon's info and talked to him for the first time in years.

And what a treat it was.

We had a fantastic conversation laughing about the good 'ol days and it was great. Haven't talked to him in years and it was like it'd only been a week.

THAT's what the House does for you.

Awesome.

And if you weren't there in the 80's/90's but are from
Theta Chapter - (UMASS/Amherst)
WELCOME!

Drop us a line and share your stuff.

We're glad to have you.

496 North Pleasant Street means the world to a lot of people...
Rich Partridge was cool enough to send these photos from the 2007 Theta Chi Golf fest...

Rich writes: Over 30 brothers participated in the Theta Chi Golf Outing in September, 2007. Everyone had a great time, and we look forward to next year.

Derek Tomlinson Welcomes A Daughter!

Congrats to Derek Tomlinson who just welcomed his 2nd child and first daughter!

"Well, what a whirl-wind it has been for the last 2 days! Little Miss Samantha decided that she couldn't wait any longer to join her family and entered the world at 11:23pm Saturday evening (almost 3 1/2 weeks early!) weighing 6lbs 4.8oz and 18.5" long. Both she and her mommy are doing wonderfully and daddy and little brother Mason are over the moon! She is really enjoying the comforts of mommy's hugs and daddy's arms. Hope you are all well!
Love,

Shannon, Derek, Mason and Samantha Jane!"
